Prevenir diabetes tipo 2 incidiendo sobre factores de riesgo

Existen posibilidades que nos permiten retrasar y prevenir la diabetes tipo 2, conociendo las etapas pasadas y los principales factores de riesgo a dicha enfermedad, para poder descubrir con tiempo cualquier problema, teniendo en cuenta los principales elementos responsables del aumento de la diabetes 2: el sedentarismo, la obesidad y el sobrepeso.

Es recomendable realizarse niveles de Glicemia (glucosa en sangre) por lo menos una vez cada año, ya que la diabetes 2 puede pasar de forma desapercibida, incluso por largo tiempo, y por esto que se recomienda aplicar dicha prueba constantemente.

El conjunto de síntomas resistente a la insulina y la pre-diabetes son condiciones que llegaron luego del aparecimiento de la diabetes tipo 2, en estos trayectos la diabetes puede ser prevenida o también retrasar su avance de diagnostico.

A continuación detallaremos una lista de 9 factores, quienes poseen algunos de estos cuentan con un alto riesgo de acrecentar la diabetes tipo 2.


  1. 1. Tener familiares que hayan sufridos de diabetes o que sufran en la actualidad.
  2. 2. Cuerpo fuera de peso limite (en especial alrededor de la cadera).
  3. 3. No ejecutar suficiente tareas físicas (Sedentarismo).
  4. 4. Altos niveles de presión arterial (140/90 mmHg ó mayor).
  5. 5. Alteración de tolerancia a la glucosa (ATG)
  6. 6. Ser hispano, ya que el 10% de los hispanos mayores de 20 años poseen diabetes.
  7. 7. Niveles de Colesterol bueno (HDL) por debajo de 35 mg/dl.
  8. 8. En las mujeres: haber tenido un bebé de más de 9 lbs. (4 kgs.) al nacer, tener Síndrome de ovarios poliquísticos o haber tenido Diabetes Gestacional.
  9. 9. Niveles de triglicéridos por encima de 150 mg/dl.

Hay algunos elementos de estos antes mencionados que pueden ser controlados, aunque existen algunos como: etnia, la edad, antecedentes familiares, entre otros, que no se puede tener un control, dentro del control podemos mencionar:

  1. 1. Esforzarnos por alcanzar y conservar un cuerpo fuera de pesos extravagantes.
  2. 2. Incrementar la realización de actividades físicas.
  3. 3. Mantener una nutrición y alimentación saludable.

Con la ayuda de estas medidas de salud podremos mantener un nivel de colesterol estable, y un sistema de circulación sanguínea con buen flujo, al igual que mejorarán problemas de Hipertensión.
